Wallace Wattle's The Science of Getting Rich - Review

By Josie Uitendaal

Wallace Wattles was born in the 1800s at a time when there was war going on in States. Wallace Wattles faced lot of hardships and also faced failures until in the latter parts of his life where he did experimentations and tireless study which he implemented in his book "The Science of Getting Rich." The book is more of a practical manual than being pragmatical or philosophical. It is a book which is useful for both men and women, who are looking forward to reach their goal and earn money.

If in the future there is a Hall of Fame dedicated to success self help books, then "The Science of Getting Rich" will definitely be in the list of those books. This book is extremely catchy and it is exciting because it is short to the point and this makes it quite appealing and readable. Wallace wrote this book a hundred year ago from now and it deals with the concept of acquisition of wealth faster. This book will not tell you how to raise your self-esteem or determining goals and having a happy life. It focuses on money making and nothing else apart from that. What I liked about this book is that Wallace very boldly cuts to the chase. In this book he asserts that we all have the right to be wealthy or rich. But, he never promotes selfishness, greed or even trampling over others.

Are there skills you need to develop? Do you need to go back to school, etc.? Before you take such drastic steps, consider talents you already have. You may need to do nothing more than to start taking action, and if you look at your talents, you may just realize what you really want to do with your life. What action steps will you take? Although there are many ways to do this, my favorite way, and the easiest way I know of, is recommended by Mark Joyner of Simpleology. It's called The Backward Planner.Basically, all you have to do is write down the end result of what you want to achieve and then write the steps you need to take, backwards, to get what you want. For example, if you want to earn $10,000 a month, that's your end state. Now, write down the steps you'll take to achieve that. It could be something like doing 10 joint ventures. Write down each step involved in making that step happen.

Look, the bottom line is this: only you get to decide who you will be and what you will do with your life unless you decide to listen to those who don't have your best interests at heart. Is that what you really want for your life?I grew up having thoughts and feelings for just about every idea and concept in Wattles' book. But it took several years as a business man, and as a family man, to finally bring them all together in my own mind. Only then did I realize that I had been, since my early teens, using vision, purpose, faith, and gratitude, to help me build wealth, success, and happiness. By the time I was 19, I already believed that in order for me to be a good Christian, I needed to be a good capitalist. And in order to be a good capitalist, I needed to be a good Christian. And in order to be a good family man, I needed to be a good Christian and a good capitalist. But as a young teenager, struggling to help my mother come up with money to pay our home's mortgage and utilities, these were not ideas and concepts that I could easily grasp. It was difficult to see the 'big picture' when bills needed to be paid before we could eat.

The Science of Getting Rich - now here's a book that really hits the nail on the head. How many books have you read that claim to be able to make you rich but in the end all you get is lame old clichs like 'work hard' or 'early bird gets the worm' and stuff that you could see for free on plaques in offices? Not this book. True to its name, The Science of Getting Rich takes a scientific and practical look at the desire that every human being inherently has, even if he or she lives in denial. The book begins with an eye-opening lecture that tells us that there is nothing shallow or superficial about the desire to get rich.

Today, looking back at my formal education, it seems unfortunate that even after many years of public school, and many years getting three degrees at three different colleges, not once - not once - were Wattles' ideas ever discussed in school. Four years of business school and the concept of being a 'good capitalist' was never discussed. I'm sure that those two words were never mentioned in the same sentence during my entire time in college. So, when I discovered The Science of Getting Rich by Wattles, I was amazed and relieved that I had finally found someone that was willing to openly discuss and share the same ideas and concepts that I was struggling to understand as a young man. Someone that was willing to apply the ideas and concepts of being a good capitalist and a good Christian to his own life and business. I couldn't believe that this simple little book was not mandatory reading in my MBA program. Maybe his message was considered too simple and unsophisticated. Well, Wattles' message might be a simple one, but it is an important one. His message has endured for the last one-hundred years - and it will endure for the next hundred. And its a message that every American, and everyone that wants to live the American dream, needs to understand.

Wattles' message was an important one for me. And it is one that can help you change and improve your life too. But I'm here to tell you that there is no big 'secret' hidden in this book. Wattles' book does not contain any great earth-shattering, life-changing secret. Everything in this book you already know about or have already thought about at one time or another. What it does do is bring together and discuss several ideas and concepts about achieving and living a balanced and successful life. It presents it to you in a little book, in a structured and easy-to-understand format. Maybe you haven't been able to bring all of these ideas and concepts together in your own head. Maybe you didn't know how to apply these ideas and concepts to your life, business, and career. This book will help you see and understand these ideas and concepts - and shows you how they can apply to your life, business, and career.

The Science of Getting Rich is a successful self-help book and it is so popular that it can easily find its way in the future Hall of Fame of popular books. It has all the ingredients that are necessary for a book to be exciting, appealing and readable. Moreover, The Science of Getting Rich is short and to the point and it is written in a lucid and eloquent manner, so that the readers can easily understand what it is trying to convey to its audience.

It is a book that Wallace wrote hundred years ago to make people understand the concept of wealth acquisition faster. This is a book that will only tell you about how to make money and it has nothing to do with raising your self-esteem or identifying goals to lead a happy life. Wallace is direct to the point and makes it clear that everyone has the right to be rich and wealthy. However, he never ever promotes negativity like greed or selfishness.

If you want to build a successful business and career that is in sync with a balanced and happy life, you will need to read it several times - and then read it several more times again. Once you get past some of the confusing and old-style terminology, you will begin to see and understand Wattles' message. You do not need to an American, believe in God, or religion, or Christianity to understand Wattles' message - or to benefit from his message. You just need an open mind, and a desire for personal fulfillment and advancement. Please read it carefully. It will be worth your time and effort. After reading and internalizing Wattles' concepts in this book, you too should have a better idea of what it takes to begin formulating a life, business, and career - using vision, purpose, faith, and gratitude - to build wealth, success, and happiness. This book is here to help you take that first step toward the happy and successful life that you owe to yourself and to your family. It is now up to you and you alone.
