The Key To Self Improvement - Motivation

We all make goals for our own improvement, development and enrichment. Be it to run a marathon, to learn French, to play the piano, to learn to sketch, or to write a novel we all have something we would like to do to improve ourselves and enrich our lives. We make these goals with the best of intentions, but everyday

somehow they never get accomplished from a goal into a reality. And that isn't to say that these things are not important to you. They just simply don't get done. Somewhere between essential activities such as showering in the morning and eating dinner in the evening your goal for self-improvement just isn't met once again.

How can we stop this? Is there a way to prevent your personal goals from looking like a child's Christmas wish list, full of expectations ranging from reasonable to impossible?

Well, yes we can stop this. We can make our goals realities. The answer is in motivation. If we can utilize our own motivation than we hold the key to our own success. Yes, it is simply a matter of motivation.

Sit down and think about this personal goal of yours. How much do you really want to learn to watercolor or do more yoga? Whatever your personal goal is how motivated are you to achieve it? For example, are you motivated enough to wake up at five a.m.? Are you motivated enough to give up some tv time? Or sacrifice time browsing the internet? Is this really a goal you are motivated enough to make sacrifices to make it a reality? Or is it really a wish?

There are simple ways to increase your motivation. For starters make sure you are getting enough sleep. It is difficult to be motivated to run a mile if you are still exhausted from work yesterday.

Another simple but effective way to improve your motivation is to write your goal down. The little act of writing your goal on a piece of paper increases your motivation and your chances of success.

Another motivational tool is to make yourself a chart, just like your mom used to make you when you were little. Make a system like give yourself a check mark on the days you achieve your goal and a circle on days you don't. Even this little personal accountability chart will increase your motivation.

While you are motivating yourself don't forget to reward yourself! Rewards are a great motivator. So don't forget to give yourself little incentives on the way to your big goal.

In the end if you really want this thing, be it learning to design your own clothes or finishing that book, you can have it. The trick is to motivate yourself. Because the sad truth is if you aren't motivated then you won't get it accomplished between daily lives. So make sure to make your goal a priority and remind yourself why you wanted it in the first place. The motivation is already inside you, you just have to make it work for you. Motivation is the key to self-improvement. And the best part is you already have that motivation inside you. Sometimes, you just have to remind yourself.
