Ability to commute from one location to another or transportation skills is also on top of the list. This is one skill necessary for successful independent living, but one that they leave to their caretakers or parents. The youth need to find ways of commuting from point A to point B, whether it is through public transport or by owning a car.

The other set of vital tactics involves possessing goal setting skills. The process of setting a goal is all about a youth figuring out what they want to get in life. To achieve the goal, they need to get whatever is required and take the necessary actions. Knowing how to set goals and successfully achieve them makes young people happy and satisfied with their lives.

Time management skills are also vital life skills for young adults who wish to be independent. When elderly teens learn how to spend their time wisely, they get more goals achieved, in addition to feeling good about their abilities and themselves.
