How Could Business Organizations Use Inspiration?

By Cris Furs

A survey conducted by Performance Inspired, Inc., a media, research, and consulting firm in Atlanta revealed that 25 organizations topped the list of most inspiring companies. It is apparent that these companies have followed certain principles of inspiration and motivation to make people consider them as most inspiring organizations.

If you wish to use inspiration to develop your business, you should develop a unique style of leadership. It is true that all of us possess special blend of tendencies and preferences in leadership, with individual talents, strengths, personality traits, and gifts. However, to succeed as a leader, you should have the outgoing, vibrant personality of a manager who could motivate and inspire others.

The third step in inspiration is vision, which is the ability to identify and communicate the difference between 'what is' and 'what could be'. Leaders should be able to present complete vision for the individuals in the organization and for the entire organization itself. The fourth factor is credibility, which has five dimensions. They are emotional mastery, ethical practices, healthy relationships, intellectual growth, and courageous behavior.

You should also embed, inculcate, and reinforce various types of inspiring behaviors as well as practices that would drive your business outcome to cater to the best interest of all your stakeholders. You should design, plan, lead, and deliver customized solutions and conduct experimental learning workshops or facilitations and other events that would work in harmony to activate inspiration within your organization.

The last factor is the most crucial in inspiration in a business environment. It is known as servant leadership, where the leader is willing to leverage the assets of the people involved with the company and influence them as a leader. The servant leader should advance the mission and vision of others without the expectation of any returned favors. If companies follow the above seven major drivers of inspiration, success would automatically follow them.
